Back to School
Back-to-school season can be an emotional time for everybody. We want to let you know that's it’s a good time to stop and offer some encouraging words for kids as they head to the classroom.
Each case will be different, but perhaps this could provide some insight into how to address what your child may be dealing with during the return to school. Feel free to incorporate any of these ideas into your conversations with your children before the start of the school year:

Jog-A-Thon 2026
Remember the thrill of running with your friends, cheering each other on, and feeling that sense of school pride?
On April 24 Edison’s Jog-A-Thon is all about bringing that excitement to life.
And thanks to our amazing local sponsors,
every child will receive a free Edison T-shirt to wear with pride!
Let’s come together to make this our most successful fundraiser yet.

Students should dress appropriately to be able to run (keep in mind that they will receive a Jogathon t-shirt to wear during the run on Friday)
Students should bring water and wear sunscreen or a hat

Detalles y Consideraciones
Espectadores deben entrar y salir por Kansas Avenue.
Espectadores deben llegar 5 minutos antes de la hora en que corra su hijo.
Los espectadores pueden traer carteles u otros objetos para animar a los estudiantes (pero no deben dejar basura).
No se permiten animales.
Los padres voluntarios deben entrar por la oficina principal y registrar su entrada.
Los estudiantes deben vestirse de manera adecuada para poder correr (tengan en cuenta que recibirán una camiseta del Jogathon para usar durante la carrera del viernes).
Los estudiantes deben traer agua y usar protector solar o un sombrero.
Movie Night at Edison for 3-5 grades
Ven a disfrutar la proyección de la película “Zootopia 2” (2025). Puedes venir con toda tu familia (todas las edades) con tu pijama, manta, almohadita y además disfrutar del rico menú que se ofrecerá a beneficio del 5to grado.
Come and enjoy the screening of the movie "Zootopia 2" (2025). You can come with your whole family (all ages) with your pajamas, blanket, pilloon and also enjoy the rich menu that will be offered for the benefit of the 5th grade.

How toTalk to Children During Challenging Times
While we work hard to continue to create the culture and community we want for our children at school, we recognize that there are external circumstances that can be challenging for families. Children inevitably become aware of or even experience these challenges. Parents have asked for guidance on how to communicate with their children about these challenges, as well as how to handle their own emotions. Family Services of Santa Monica will present a parent workshop on this issue this week. The presentation will be in Spanish with English translation available.
We will have two presentation times to accommodate parent schedules.:
Wednesday, 8:30-9:30 am
Thursday, 6:00-7:00 pm (childcare, pizza and drinks will be provided)

Cómo hablar con los niños en tiempos difíciles
Si bien nos esforzamos por seguir creando la cultura y la comunidad que deseamos para nuestros hijos en la escuela, reconocemos que existen circunstancias externas que pueden ser difíciles para las familias. Es inevitable que los niños se den cuenta o incluso experimenten estos desafíos. Los padres han solicitado orientación sobre cómo comunicarse con sus hijos sobre estos desafíos, así como sobre cómo manejar sus propias emociones. Servicios Familiares de Santa Mónica ofrecerá esta semana un taller para padres sobre este tema. La presentación será en español con traducción al inglés disponible.
Tendremos 2 horarios de presentación :
Miércoles, 8:30-9:30 am
Jueves, 18:00-19:00 horas ( se proporcionará cuidado de niños, pizza y bebidas)

FIESTA FAMILIAR
The Fiesta Familiar is approaching fast!
I'll take place on Friday, February 20th, 4:30pm-8:00pm, and will feature the famous Lotería, DJ, photo booth, games, silent auction, food / desserts provided by the 5th grade parents… you know: A lot of fun!
HELP IS NEEDED to make it a success. You probably have already received an email from your Room Rep asking for your participation in your classroom's basket for the Lotería, and there will be more things to do.
