Tendremos una de las mayores exhibiciones del Día de los Muertos en el lado oeste de Los Ángeles, con una impresionante muestra de altares creados por los estudiantes, maestros y padres de Edison.

Además podrá disfrutar de música en vivo, baile, juegos, premios, artes y manualidades, pinta caritas, inflables, variedad de comidas deliciosas.

¡Y no se pierda la espectacular y colorida alfombra creada por los padres y estudiantes de Edison!

The Fall Festival is this Saturday, November 1st!

Be sure to invite your friends and family and come ready to have fun!

We will have one of the largest Day of the Dead exhibits on the west side of Los Angeles, with an impressive sample of altars created by Edison's students, teachers and parents.

You can also enjoy live music, dancing, games, prizes, arts and crafts, face painting, inflatables, homemade tamales and variety of delicious foods.

And don't miss the spectacular and colorful “Alfombra” created by Edison's parents and students!

Todos los miércoles, nuestra PTA organiza una reunión de padres los miércoles por la mañana de 8:30 a 10:00 a.m. en la Biblioteca con café, té y golosinas. Todas las reuniones son bilingües e híbridas.

Esta semana, nuestra experta será la maestra de aprendizaje social emocional del distrito, Jessica Mirch. Como recordarás de la Noche de Regreso a la Escuela, uno de nuestros enfoques para este año escolar es el Aprendizaje Social Emocional. Jessica proporcionará una actividad socioemocional para los padres llamada Family Values Compass (Brújula de Valores Familiares). Los participantes identificarán sus mejores 3-5 valores para su familia y luego harán un inventario de sus hábitos y pensamientos actuales para ver cuáles están alineados y cuáles no. Each Wednesday, our PTA hosts a Wednesday morning parent meeting from 8:30-10:00 am in the Library with coffee, tea, and treats. All meetings are bilingual and hybrid.

This week, our expert will the the district's Social Emotional Learning Teacher, Jessica Mirch. As you may remember from Back to School Night, one of our foci for this school year is Social Emotional Learning. Jessica will be providing a social emotional activity for parents called the Family Values Compass. Participants will identify their top 3-5 values for their family and then inventory their current habits and thoughts to see which are aligned and which are not aligned with those values. The final step is to look at their schedule and intentionally add more value-aligned activities to reduce stress and boost life satisfaction. The presentation will be bilingual of course!

Parents Join Us

The school would like to invite us to be part of an event where our students can explore and celebrate the rich Hispanic cultures on Friday October 10th.

Parents will have the opportunity to submit a table representing a country of their choice, featuring traditional clothing, food, plants, sports, music, and more. This is an opportunity to share their heritage, traditions, and creativity with all our Edison students.

Cada Escuela Pública de California desde Kindergarten hasta el grado 12, con 21 o más estudiantes de inglés debe formar un Comité Asesor de Estudiantes de Inglés (ELAC). El ELAC es un comité para padres de estudiantes aprendices del idioma inglés.

El ELAC debe asesorar y asistir a la escuela en todo lo relacionado con los siguientes, de acuerdo al plan Único para el Logro Estudiantil (SPSA, por sus siglas en inglés) y el Título III. (Código 62002.5)

The purpose of the ELAC is to provide guidance and advice to the principal and staff with regards to the needs of students who are learning English as a second language. In achieving this purpose, the ELAC shall:

1. Assist in the development of the school-wide needs assessment.

2. Assist in ways to make parents aware of the importance of regular school attendance.

3. Advise the principal in the development of a site plan for English Learners. Submit recommendations to the school site council for consideration of inclusion in the Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA).

4. Receive training materials and training, planned in full consultation with committee members, to assist carrying out members in their legal responsibilities.

Good afternoon parents,

Edison's very first Multi-Cultural Festival will be on Friday, May 16th 3:30 pm - 5:30 pm. We have 24 countries being represented at this event! (Please see attachment with countries and contact list) 

First and foremost, thank you so much for volunteering to host a table at this event where you will be showcasing your country/heritage. We are so excited to provide this opportunity to the students where they will learn about the wide range of cultures that make up our special Edison Community. This wonderful event also provides the students an opportunity to represent one aspect of their identity and celebrate diversity. 

Food is such an important part of culture and so we would like each country represented to bring small bite-size food samples for the students to try. We are planning for 200 students. Please email me (Michelle Uhm) directly to confirm you will be bringing food samples for the students. 

Each student will receive a Bingo Card of the various countries and will receive a Globe sticker to stamp their Country Bingo Card as they visit the tables. We will provide you with the sticker stamps. 

Country Tables:  Please plan to set up your table and tent in the field between May 16th at 1:30-3:30 pm.

• Each country will have a table. (Depending on spacing we may have countries opt to share a table) 

• Please bring items or decoration to teach the students about your culture

• Please bring bite-size food samples for the students to try

• Please provide any small give-away items (i,e, stickers, mini flags etc) 

For those countries that have multiple parents who have volunteered, I will send a follow-up email to connect you all so you can work together. 

Performances: We will have performances at this event. If you are aware of any performance artists who are willing to volunteer their time, please let me know!

El primer Festival Multicultural de Edison se celebrará el viernes 16 de mayo de 15:30 a 17:30. ¡Contaremos con la representación de 24 países en este evento! (Por favor, vean el archivo adjunto con los países y la lista de contactos).

Ante todo, muchas gracias por ofrecerse como voluntarios para organizar una mesa en este evento donde mostrarán su país y sus orígenes. Nos entusiasma mucho brindar esta oportunidad a los estudiantes, donde aprenderán sobre la amplia gama de culturas que conforman nuestra especial Comunidad Edison. Este maravilloso evento también les brinda la oportunidad de representar un aspecto de su identidad y celebrar la diversidad.

La comida es una parte fundamental de la cultura, por lo que nos gustaría que cada país representado traiga pequeñas muestras de comida para que los estudiantes las prueben. Tenemos previsto asistir 200 estudiantes. Por favor, envíenme un correo electrónico directamente (Michelle Uhm) para confirmar que traerán muestras de comida para los estudiantes.
